Cai was raised in the secluded village of Eruyt, where he formed deep bonds with Magnus and Melione—connections that stirred jealousy and control in his possessive mother, who struggled to accept his identity as male when he came of age. After Magnus was retrieved by their father and Mel mysteriously vanished, Cai was left to navigate rejection, confusion, and growing aggression, ultimately culminating in a violent ambush by other kits that awakened his magical abilities. As he grew, so did his strength and mistrust. Upon collection by his father and brother, these characteristics were honed through relentless training and a volatile relationship with Magnus, who eventually abandoned him as well to seek out their sister. Despite becoming a skilled wood-warder, Cai remained haunted by the loss of his siblings and the suspicion that their disappearances held deeper meaning. Defying village custom and his father’s ultimatum, Cai chose exile, embarking on a dangerous journey beyond Rak’tika in search of truth, purpose, and perhaps a fractured sense of family.
